When storms and rains stop for a moment and the sun shyly comes out from behind the clouds, you should go for a walk without a delay. It is not known when the next such opportunity will come. I wanted to stop by the charming pier in Grodem a long time ago. From there, you can observe ships, motorboats and fishing boats passing through the fjord (Byfjorden). Byfjorden is 10 km long and starts at the Tungenes lighthouse (see outdoor cooking - couscous salad) and ends at the port of Stavanger. From the pier, you can also see the nearby islands and in the distance the snow-capped peaks of the mountains. There I decided to prepare and eat my lunch.

Why a jar of soup?

  • short preparation time
  • no cooking required, just pour boiling water over it
  • convenient and tasty meal
  • you decide what the soup contains

(jar - 500ml)
  • 30 g dry rice noodles (or any other that does not require cooking)
  • 125 g of natural tofu
  • 1 tsp miso paste
  • 1/2 carrot
  • 1 tbsp of frozen peas
  • 10 spinach leaves
  • basil, chives
  • 1/2 sheet of nori
  • boiling water

marinade for tofu:

  • 1 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp granulated garlic
  • 1/4 curry
  • a pinch of smoked paprika
  • a pinch of chili powder
  • a pinch of pepper

  1. Prepare the marinade (mix the ingredients) and put the diced tofu into it.
  2. Set aside for at least 1/2 hour.
  3. Put rice noodles, vegetables and spices into the jar.
  4. Add tofu.
  5. Sprinkle basil and chives.
  6. Pour boiling water, close the jar and stir.
  7. Set aside for 5 minutes.
