Simple porridge without cooking. Just pour hot milk and boiling water over the ingredients and your breakfast is ready. You can easily prepare it outdoors. It will warm you up and give you energy. I tested the recipe on a walk during a winter morning, waiting for the sunrise on Randabergfjellet, a hill in Randabergu (Norway). This is one of my favorite "just around the corner" places. You can see the whole area, numerous islands, ships, the beach and farmers' fields. Time stops here, and thoughts do not run like crazy.


(portion for one person)
  • 40g old-fashion rolled oats
  • 5 walnuts
  • 1 dried fig
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 tbsp almond flakes
  • cinnamon
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • date syrup
  • 80 ml hot water
  • 80 ml hot plant milk


  1. Put oats to the bowl.
  2. Cut walnuts, fig, banana and add to the bowl.
  3. Add almond flakes and lemon juice.
  4. Pour over hot water and milk.
  5. Pour over the syrup.
  6. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
