I got this recipe thanks to my aunt who lives in Panama. Bananas are a popular ingredient in many dishes and desserts there. Before using bananas in dessert, wait a few days for them to mature and turn yellow (approximately 3 days).
Ingredients:
- 3 ripe (yellow) plantains
- 1 cinnamon bark
- 2 tbsp of date syrup
- 2 tbsp of brown sugar
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
- 2 cloves
- 1 anise
- pinch of salt
- oil for frying
- 250 ml of water
Instructions:
- Peel and cut the bananas in half and the halves diagonally.
- Prepare two pans.
- Pour oil into one and fry the sliced plantains for about 3 minutes, turning them over occasionally.
- Pour water into the second pan. Add cinnamon bark, date syrup, brown sugar, vanilla sugar, cloves, anise and a pinch of salt.
- Cook this mixture until the bananas are fried.
- Put the fried bananas in a saucepan of water and cook until almost all the liquid has evaporated and the bananas are shiny and brown.
- Plantain serve with sauce (liquid) from the pan.
